Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman has pointed out the importance of restoration of citizens' trust in the law enforcement bodies.
"I am confident that the trust can be restored only through public, open investigation into cases of corruption, embezzlement of property, and commission of other crimes," Groysman said at a briefing on Monday.
Groysman commented on the situation that took place at the meeting of the Conciliatory Council. He noted that on the one hand he understood representatives of the law enforcement bodies, as "[summoned] deputies ignore coming to give simple explanations [to investigators]." The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada considers that if there are questions to one or another deputy, they have to provide explanations personally and not to hide behind the immunity.
"I call on all people's deputies summoned by law enforcement bodies to come and provide information they are demanded for. I see no problem in it as a people's deputy must always be public," the Chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament said.
On the other hand, Groysman noted he had not given any instructions as to the access of investigators to the meeting of the Conciliatory Council.
